I feel you. We recently sent our son off to LIVE in New York and attend a 6 month metal arts program. He stayed in Tucson after college and sending him off to really and truly start his life somewhere else was a bit brutal. AND I am so proud of him for taking the leap, to follow his passion and blah blah that is all true. I am starting to understand that this is also a next step for me, for us. All the both/ands of parenting.
Oh gosh. Thanks for sharing this Marcy. I’m really working on sitting with the parts of myself that are suspended, or waiting in some sort of timeless reality. Change for the kids has always been so determinate of change for me, but when the space between keeps growing I get a little bit more inert in waiting. I think it’s right to let it be a door, out of one life and into another. But not easy after decades doing it this way!
